Following a meeting with Edinburgh College’s Engineering Faculty, we’ve agreed on a collaborative project where Edinburgh College will test, measure and improve (where they can) the performance of an electric road legal buggy (“Bruce”) for a possible trial on the island of Eigg in 2014. The college will also use the project to help students learn about electric vehicle construction, performance and maintenance.

Bruce will be based on a Gazelle road legal buggy built by Electric Vehicle Enterprises in Telford,

The Eco Travel Network’s interest in the project is to explore the use of ultra low energy electric vehicles in remote rural areas and to stimulate the design and growth of such vehicles as local runabouts for locals, visitors and businesses in rural areas where public transport is sparse, fuel is difficult and expensive to obtain and renewable energy is readily available.
